Demolition

I actually think it’s quite sad that I’ve had to demolish the flooring structures. This is a very small portion of what actually needs to come out.
They’ve been in-situ so long, I hated pulling it all out. Some poor fellows nailed them all in all that time ago.
Irritatingly, not many of these planks you see had been attacked by the termites, which means I can try and reuse them somewhere in the renovation.
I’m not sure of the wood but I think it’s oak.

  1. Nice last two postings! The real work has started I see. If you will be reusing wood, no doubt you will treat it. And if it’s oak, it would be interesting to see if it were local oak (quercus ilex) or from further away (quercus robur or another species).

The second photo is a bit demoralizing, the first has some order and thus progress in it 🙂
Hope to come and have a look somewhere half december.

  2. HansR: I’m sure it’s oak – its too heavy for pine. Of course it will be treated, as I want to make some bedheads with it.
As you know there has to be quite a bit of upheaval before things start to look like they are progressing. Always two steps forward, one step back!
Let’s meet soon so you can see the work for yourself.
